1. Overview
SearCalc ("we", "us") operates searcalc.com. This policy explains what data is processed when you use the site, why, and the choices you have. We do not sell personal data. We do not require accounts or logins.
2. Tool data stays on your device
Most tools on this site run entirely in your browser. The numbers, text, and files you enter into a calculator, converter, or generator are processed locally on your device and are never sent to us or stored on any server. This includes: Etsy Fee Calculator, Twitch Bits to USD, Tattoo Price Calculator, Percentage Calculator, Loan Calculator, Compound Interest Calculator, Salary Calculator, Profit Margin Calculator, Tip Calculator, Word Counter, Character Counter, YAML to JSON, JSON Formatter, Base64 Encoder/Decoder, Password Generator, Band Name Generator, Color Picker, and Invoice Generator.
3. Tools that send data to third-party services
A small number of tools need an external service to work. When you use them, the content you enter is transmitted to the following third parties, solely to produce your result:
- AI tools (AI Text Rewriter, AI Bio Generator, AI Text Summarizer, AI Email Writer, AI Hashtag Generator): the text you submit is sent through our server-side proxy to OpenRouter AI, which processes the request using a language model. We do not store your text after the response is returned. OpenRouter's own privacy policy applies to their processing.
- QR Code Generator: the URL, text, WiFi credentials, or contact details you encode are sent to the api.qrserver.com API (goqr.me) as part of the image URL to render the QR image. Avoid encoding passwords for sensitive networks or private information.
Do not submit personal data, confidential documents, or secrets to these tools.
4. Cookies
We use a small number of cookies and browser storage entries:
- Consent storage: we record your cookie choice (for example in localStorage) so we do not ask again on every visit.
- Advertising cookies: once advertising is enabled, third-party vendors including Google use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking cookies does not affect how the tools work.
5. Google AdSense and DoubleClick cookies
This site displays advertising served by Google AdSense. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies — including the DoubleClick DART cookie — to serve ads based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- You can also opt out of third-party vendor cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info/choices and youronlinechoices.eu (EU).
- For details on how Google uses data from sites that use its services, see policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
6. Third-party advertising vendors
Advertising and measurement may be provided by Google AdSense and, where applicable, other ad networks. These vendors may set cookies or use similar technologies to measure ad performance and detect fraud. Each vendor processes data under its own privacy policy. We do not control and are not responsible for third-party cookies; you can manage them through the links in section 5 or your browser settings.
7. Analytics
We use privacy-respecting, aggregate analytics to understand which tools are used and how the site performs (approximate location at country level, browser type, pages visited). This data is not used to identify you personally. Our hosting provider (Netlify) also processes standard server logs for security and availability.
8. Your rights (GDPR / UK GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, under the GDPR and UK GDPR you have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; request correction or deletion; object to or restrict processing; and lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Our lawful basis for advertising cookies is your consent, which you give or withdraw through the cookie banner; for the other processing described here, it is our legitimate interest in operating and improving the site.
9. Your rights (CCPA — California)
If you are a California resident, the CCPA/CPRA gives you the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete it, and the right to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell personal information for money. Advertising cookies may constitute "sharing" under California law; you can opt out using the Google Ads Settings link in section 5 or by rejecting cookies in the banner.
10. Children's privacy
This site is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal data through the contact form, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Data retention and security
Contact form messages are retained only as long as needed to handle your request. The site is served over HTTPS, and our server-side AI proxy applies rate limiting and does not log the content of requests. No system is perfectly secure, but we apply reasonable technical measures to protect data.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site evolves — for example when advertising is enabled. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above.
13. Contact
For any privacy question or request, use the contact form or email us. We respond to privacy requests within 30 days.
