How Etsy fees work in 2026
Every Etsy sale carries at least three mandatory fees, and they stack on the full amount the buyer pays — shipping included. Understanding them is the difference between a listing that looks profitable and one that actually is.
Listing fee — $0.20
Charged when you publish a listing and again each time it renews (every four months) or a unit sells. It's charged whether or not the item sells.
Transaction fee — 6.5%
Etsy's largest mandatory fee: 6.5% of item price plus shipping plus gift wrap. It rose from 5% to 6.5% in 2022 and has held there.
Payment processing — 3% + $0.25 (US)
Charged once per order, not per item. Rates vary by country — UK sellers pay 4% + £0.20, and several EU countries pay 4% + €0.30.
Offsite ads — 12% or 15%
If Etsy advertises your listing on Google, Facebook, Instagram or Pinterest and the buyer purchases within 30 days, you pay a fee on the whole order. Shops over $10,000/year pay 12% and can't opt out; smaller shops pay 15% but can opt out.
Worked example — US seller
Item $35, shipping $5, cost to make $10, no offsite ads:
- Listing fee: $0.20
- Transaction fee: 6.5% × $40.00 = $2.60
- Payment processing: 3% × $40.00 + $0.25 = $1.45
- Total fees: $4.25
- Profit: $35.00 − $10.00 − $4.25 = $20.75
